Opera

Opera is a company that have made web browsers for almost all imaginable platforms. Opera is more than just a web browser, you can also use Opera as an e-mail client, and a client for downloading torrent files. Opera can automatically protect you against harmful internet sites and so called "phishing". Phishing is when a fake internet site pretends to be for instance your bank, and by doing this gets you to type in your user name, password or similar sensitive information. Opera also has so called Widgets, small games or utilities that can be downloaded and run in the browser.

Opera is also designed to be the fastest web browser on the market, and with the new Opera Turbo function you can save both time and money if you are browsing the web on a slow line or a line where you have to pay for the amount of data you are downloading. You can also put the Turbo function in automatic mode, meaning it will only start if it detects that you are using a low bandwidth network.

This is also one of the first web browsers that completes the Acid3-test with a full score. This is a independent test that tells you how your browser handles standards set by the W3C-consortium. As a comparison, Internet Explorer scored as low as 20/100, but then Microsoft has always found it easier to make up their own standards rather than have their browsers comply with those that the rest of the industry would rather use.

Opera is also the browser that is available on the most platforms. Most successful is perhaps their browser for mobile phones, Opera Mini, but you could also get Opera for your Nintendo DS or Wii.
